Music Changes Everything
Music touches the human spirit, it heals and allows the heart to express itself in ways that transcend words. Learning to play an instrument or to train one’s voice develops essential character qualities: patience, perseverance, and discipline are developed in practice, problem-solving skills and teamwork are cultivated in ensembles, courage, grit and confidence are gained on the stage. These skills, developed through music, will help children excel in school and throughout their lives.
Instruments (new & used) are provided for our students by community members and donations.
Weekly private and/or group lessons are taught by qualified music instructors.
Students participate in service and community performances throughout the year.
A professional music instructor and program director meet one- on-one with students to keep everyone on track.
Students are placed in ensembles.
One-to-one and group mentoring occur during lessons and performances.
Where we currently serve
Where do lessons take place? SWAN does not operate as a music school but we use venues in our students’ neighborhoods and schools.
Is SWAN scalable? Yes, and it is our vision to multiply branches in the future.
